The ideal content page

Write content for SEO and show your visitors what your content is about

wikipedia content

The content of your page is the reason why visitors come to your site. They come to your site to read about what they’ve searched for. Your mission is to fulfill their demands, and if you do that, the chances they will link to your website increases remarkably.

It is of great importance that you clearly highlight the purpose of the page for the users through following areas:

  • Page title

  • URL

  • Content

  • Images

It is also important that you inform the search engines what your content is about, except from the list above, include your topic here:

  • In Meta tags. Describe your topic in both description and keyword tags. Try not to choose a very large topic that covers too much, instead, be as exact as possible.

  • In Image “alt” text. The search engines use the alt to tell what the image is about.

What search engines gives priority are pages that will answer the most questions about the keyword as possible. Wikipedia is the ideal example of a content page. The content of Wikipedia pages is often unique on the internet, there is also a huge depth in most pages on Wikipedia. The content is written in a formal language and is (at least supposed to be) based on facts. It is very likely that the visitor will find the answer to his question here. This is what good content is about, give the users the answers to their questions and it is content like that search engines want. When you visit a page on Wikipedia, it’s not hard to tell what the content is about. As you see in the figure, the title, the URL, and the image clearly says that this page is about “General Motors”. Nothing on this page extends beyond the subject. You get an overview of which subjects within “General Motors” that this page includes. It is clear that if you want to know facts about General Motors, this is the page for you
